Foundation Checklist (Pass/Fail Self-Test)
Read This Before You Move On
Most golfers don’t stay stuck because they don’t practice…
They stay stuck because they build their swing on a weak foundation.
So they spend money on:
-
lessons
-
training aids
-
“fixes”
-
quick tips
…and nothing sticks.
This lesson makes sure that doesn’t happen to you.
Because if your foundation is solid…
Your swing becomes:
✅ more consistent
✅ easier to repeat
✅ easier to fix
✅ harder to break under pressure
✅ The UGM Pro Foundation Checklist
Use this checklist before moving forward.
Rule: Don’t “kind of” pass these.
You either pass them… or you fix them now.
Because if you ignore these…
you’ll pay for it later with:
-
slices that come back
-
inconsistent contact
-
weak shots
-
balance breakdowns
-
frustration on the course
✅ Part 1: Setup & Posture (PASS / FAIL)
1) Posture Check
-
I feel athletic and balanced (not stiff or hunched)
-
My spine angle feels stable (not collapsing)
-
My chest is tall (not slumped)
PASS / FAIL
2) Stance Width
-
My stance feels stable (not too narrow)
-
I don’t feel like I’m swaying off the ball
-
I can rotate without losing balance
PASS / FAIL
3) Alignment Check
-
My feet, hips, and shoulders are not aimed way left or right
-
I’m not “accidentally” playing a slice setup
-
My body line matches my target intention
PASS / FAIL
4) Ball Position
-
My ball position is consistent (not guessing every shot)
-
I’m not too far forward causing weak cuts
-
I’m not too far back causing low hooks/chunks
PASS / FAIL
✅ Part 2: Grip & Control (PASS / FAIL)
5) Grip Pressure
-
My grip is firm but not tight
-
My arms don’t feel tense at address
-
I can swing freely without forcing speed
PASS / FAIL
6) Clubface Awareness
-
I know if my face tends to be open (slice) or closed (hook)
-
I understand what my miss is telling me
-
I’m not guessing why the ball curves
PASS / FAIL
✅ Part 3: Balance & Stability (PASS / FAIL)
7) Balance at Address
-
I feel centered and stable before I swing
-
My weight isn’t stuck on my toes or heels
-
I feel ready to rotate, not fall
PASS / FAIL
8) Balance Through the Swing
-
I can finish without stumbling
-
I’m not falling backward or lunging forward
-
I can hold my finish for 2 seconds
PASS / FAIL
✅ Part 4: Your #1 Swing Problem (Identify It Now)
9) Your Main Miss Pattern
Pick ONE that happens most often:
-
Slice / push slice
-
Hook / pull hook
-
Fat shots / chunking
-
Thin shots / topping
-
Inconsistent contact
-
No distance
-
Bad balance
-
No confidence
✅ Write it down.
Because the fastest way to stay stuck is trying to fix everything at once.
⚠️ Your Pass/Fail Score (Be Honest)
If you failed 3 or more items…
DO NOT move on yet.
That’s not a punishment — that’s how you save yourself months of frustration.
Because every “advanced fix” you try later…
will break down if your foundation is weak.
🔥 What To Do If You Failed Anything
Here’s the rule:
Fix the foundation BEFORE you fix the swing.
Because the swing is built on the foundation.
If you want, we can create mini “Fix It Fast” lessons for each fail area like:
-
Setup Fix
-
Alignment Fix
-
Ball Position Fix
-
Grip Pressure Fix
-
Balance Fix
So you can correct it in minutes.
✅ Action Step (Do This Today)
Before your next practice session:
Hold your finish for 2 seconds on every swing
If you can’t hold your finish…
your swing isn’t stable yet.
And stability is where consistency comes from.
